Re-Entry Roundtable Tickets
About this event Probation & Parole offices in Southwest Virginia are currently serving over 3,300 ex-offenders, while more inmates across Virginia are scheduled for release this summer. This mass release will be due to a change in how the Virginia Department of Corrections calculates Good Conduct Allowances or time that reduces an inmate’s sentence. Southwest Virginia will soon receive a large influx of these returning citizens. This boost to our population can be a windfall to businesses needing workers, but it will also present challenges for those needing affordable housing and transportation. To address this urgent economic challenge, we need to start planning now. Please join us on March 3rd at the Russell County Conference Center from 11 AM to 1 PM* to brainstorm ways to address these upcoming challenges while fostering a friendly environment to support these individuals as they reclaim their lives. Hosted by the Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board and facilitated by Virginia Tech. *lunch will be provided Share with friends Click Here for Details

ASAC Meeting
Next ASAC Meeting is in-person on February 10, 2022! The next ASAC meeting will be in-person in the Executive Auditorium on the far end of the SWVA Higher Education Center in Abingdon, VA on Thursday, February 10 from 10 am to 12 pm. Register on Eventbrite at the link below so we bring enough refreshments for everyone! Unfortunately, there will not be a Zoom option for this meeting, but we are planning to live-stream the meeting on the ASAC Facebook page. The meeting will include a special presentation from Lori Gates-Addison, LCSW, CPP, of Cumberland Mountain Community Services and Dr. Kim Hooker of Russell County Public Schools on Adverse Childhood Experiences and how educators in Russell County are adopting a trauma-informed instruction methodology. We will also hear from the new CEO of People Incorporated, Bryan Phipps. Finally, ASAC members who recently attended the CADCA National Leadership Forum will share highlights from the conference! ASAC Members Attend First National Conference In-Person since Pandemic ASAC Executive Director Linda Austin, Vice Chair Amy Duncan, and Membership Chair Dustin Keith attended the 32nd CADCA National Leadership Forum in National Harbor, Maryland, which marked the first national conference attended by ASAC members since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic. They are excited to bring back information and ideas from the Forum to the ASAC Coalition and share highlights at the February 10 meeting!
